The Place I Call Home!

After coming to Mumbai, I really miss my Home . I am a true Kolkatan and I realize this more and more as the days pass by. I am, keeping tandem with the heritage of a true kolkatan, a dreamer, a romantic and an idealist and One like me has little interest in these dusty cities which, is in it's way rude; unfriendly and alien. I really want to return to my City but unless I get an opportunity I really can't. Thus, whenever I hear of my Kolkata, torrents of memories rushes in and floods my mind! I sadly remember my college days the canteen; our usual quota of two seats by the window looking at the Environment Science building next door. Those lazy hours of easy chat, heated arguments and playful leg pulling, always punctuated by foul words(not from the girls but almost always from me, the other guys were a trifle reserved, when girls were around!). Those glorious hours we actually wasted(and are pretty happy about it!), when we knew we ought to be studying, as the teacher didn't show up, but never actually doing it.

Those hours at the Bally gunge Circular Road CCD, and also those treats at sharma's and Monginies. I miss the Science Canteen and also the the steps which Ard and Me used to call The Holy Place or The Ground Zero. Our own Law Canteen Where I banged the table with futile hopes of keeping pace with the beats of Puff's Bongo drums(and sometimes a plastic pot and a steel spoon!man that guy is talented!), singing all sorts of song ranging from Rabindra Sangeet to Summer of 69 and having a blast at all of them, ten people smoking one cig over endless cups of tea and chicken pakoras. I vividly remember the endless thumsUps and sprites along with trying out costly smoke brands at Hazra Mor; that shop keeper knew us by sight and Ard almost never had to say that he wanted a thumsUp, he would himself get him one! That heavenly biriyani at Khwaja's, which we hogged up, usually the full plate,(as it contained two pieces of the juiciest mutton) and we would be so eternally satisfied after that meal. I remember those days when went to Raul's. Oh! how we loved that moth eaten joint for getting cheap booze(they did not charge VAT!) and how we felt at top of the World while holding the glasses(Mine's a Vodka, Ard's a Rum and Paddy's a sprite once in a while a beer!) we loved every moment of it! That walk to Sir's Tuition at Gariahaat in the after hours and those early morning sessions at Saptaprni! Man how I hated the 8.30 a.m sessions, all sleepy and how I fell asleep many times during the class. The hundreds of proxies that we had given for each other(In fact we made it a point to take turns to come early every Saturday,in our fourth year, just to give Attendance for all!). I remember those wonderful wonderful days I spent near the science lake with my girl, how I loved those romantic escapades(DIRTY MIND! We ONLY talked!)............

I distinctly remember those long minutes(which seemed like hours!) waiting at the GP Metro Station for Ard as he would keep postponing and gladly announcing that I should not leave home for the station for another half an hour(even after he had told me to do so fifteen minutes earlier)

God Bless Him!

I got struck by the lightening in my College and that Thunderbolt still lightens my life till date! Unfortunately she's back home and I am stuck here! However I shall continue this Topic! I have Lots More to say.................

College...with J.K.D.(pity we aren't in the pic!!)
