My Birthday's Coming!!! I will be...Oh! Forget it!

Well... Coming Sunday is my Lil ol' B'day! They say I"ll be ...what...24? or is it 23+ it may even be 25+ or 24+......?Oh! Forget it!

Really, I honestly do not get the hang of this. Whenever I try to calculate my age, one of the four ladies of my life never fails to confuse me......
How on earth do they calculate it? At first I am of a certain age(of which I am not at all sure of!) then after a few days, I have an entirely different age with a "+" on it and then after numerous calculations when I finally come close to get the right answer, the year's over and it starts all over again!

But luckily the four ladies in my life, albeit, my mom, her mom, my dad's mom(God rest her soul) and my Girl Friend always manage to get my age right somehow, and I have asked them separately(to find out whether this is all an elaborate prank they play, just to annoy me) and they have always kept absolute parity with each other's calculations!!

Usually, I don't bother too much about my age or how old I am or would be...but you need it when you fill up forms, for crying out loud! I mean, can you believe what a fool I would look, if I find out in the middle of an interview, that I have been happily telling them my wrong age all along just because I couldn't calculate it? Where on Earth would my Competency quotient go to?

No, I possibly can't take the risk, thus, I boldly write(after hours of calculations, preferably with a calculator and pen paper by my side, just in case!) my age, as calculated by myself! Oh! That day I was really proud of myself! why do I need anybody to calculate my own age for me, why would I need anybody for anything for that matter? I was perfectly capable of supporting myself!

I was the monarch of all I surveyed and my right there was none to dispute!

Later, I found, I had been wrong about my age, and, as someone smilingly(I didn't see his face, I was just too ashamed, to meet his eyes!) pointed out to me, that the girls have been right all along!

I don't give much to the age factor, really I don't see the point, like they say, why celebrate? After all,you loose another year of your life! And you are closer to your death by another year.........!

........Also because I still can't calculate my true age...but I have the girls for that, they will do it for me!

So....without further delay.....

I wish a Very Happy Birthday to Me!.....

May all the four girls(although not the third!), stay in their perfect health and continue reminding me of my true age!

But most importantly, may I always stay a kid at heart, no matter what they say!

That's For Me!

Mafia! terror of reality an inspiration in fiction

Mafia! The Cosa Nostra! The Brotherhood of Evil!.......but brotherhood nonetheless...

Although, one of the most fearsome and ruthless outfit of organised crime in real life, Mafia, in the world of fiction and movie, however, has predominantly taken a rather positive attitude, not only have they actually taught values which takes a lifetime to learn, though not very moral every time, although practical no doubt, but have also lead to a life which may be lived in a sort of Code of Honour:

The Mafia teaches to be a true friend:

"I am ready to show my friendship first", although said with a slight touch of threat is, nonetheless, a phrase which may not be heard much these days.

The meaning of a responsible and caring family man:

"A man who does not take care of his family is not a true man", is not a phrase coming from a Sociologist, but a semi-literate Sicilian peasant who can cut your head off without batting his eyelids once.

The true spirit of professionalism:

"It's not business, it never was, everything is personal, that's what my father taught me" and "I shall make him an offer he can't refuse", this comes from a young mob lord taking over the family business.

Very important, Leadership:

"There are men in this world who go about demanding to be killed, such a man is a powerful weapon and the trick is to make yourself the only person in the world he truly desires NOT to kill him"

A Mafia Gang lord even gives his piece of specific philosophy:

"every man has but one destiny", now does that seem coming from a half educated murderer?

Discipline:

"Omerta".....need I say anymore?

And last but not the least, a thieving scheming murderous ruthless and cruel Mobster even gives his millions of readers and viewers a lesson in politeness?:

"I am just being reasonable."

For generations now, people have been stimulated by these stories, as they have found a strange sense of romance in these blood thirsty Criminal warlords. I find the Mafia tickles the imagination of the people. They are like the chivalrous knight errants of old but suited to meet the needs of the day.........now now don't get agitated!

I'll explain...

They belong to a secret order within their families; they have their own kingdoms to defend and their own king, minister and generals in Don, Consigliore and Capo Regimes respectively; their swords are their tommy guns and their horses an assortment of cars. They live in the world by their own code of honour and allow no one to go against that. They constantly, even by the way of forging treaties of such excellence and sophistication, which would shame many a statesman, strife for peace as only peace enables them to rule and earn well in their world.

Thus it comes to that, if the criminal aspect is left aside; Mafia, the ancient brotherhood of Sicily is, in fact a parallel world order which have taught millions how to live a life with courage and with their heads held high and how to be loyal and respectful to their loved ones.

No matter how cruel and ruthless these Mafiosos may be, one is thing certain that they have taught many of us an unique way of life, how to face our fears and work as a team and most importantly how to keep our heads cool.

The Great Don

Fashion Blunders!!! Gawd Save Me!!!

This is the Limit!
I know I am not an expert or anything and it matters all the more for that reason! If I notice that means others definitely do! People sometimes, dress up so freaking hideously, not because they don't have any better means, or they are not good looking, it's just that, they think they, somehow, look very good, wearing weird attires.
One of my colleagues,(she is Miss Universe), wore a yellow dress,a necklace of chunky beads,a tight bun with a sunflower in her hair, to the office, along with it came a positive glow on her face, which can only come from a heightened sense of self satisfaction. Someone at the office even complemented her for that radiant glow on her face and it definitely increased. She is the most beautiful lady of the day...according to her.

Now let us more closely look at the situation at hand....

  1. She is severely over weighed...in fact, it would be better to say that she has all the "worldly curves" in her figure(ever seen a globe with it's curves?)

  2. She has severe sparsity of facial and bodily hair, well, that is one of the attributes of a pretty girl...but, one cannot be so sure any loner when, such sparsity extends to the topmost portion of one's body...The HEAD in fact, moreover such sparsity gets displayed to it's fullest glory when it is tightly spread across a skull which already has too much flesh on it due to vast deposits of fat.

  3. The chunky bead necklace is very fashionable indeed but with one slight fault....to put it bluntly, it does not suit her fat face!

  4. She is very fair and the "glow" makes her face shine like the moon, quite literally. Now I am not sure whether I call a girl, whose face represents the full moon, pretty and that too quite literally( in fact, who does for that matter?)

  5. That yellow sunflower in her hair, which she thinks makes her look like...i don't know...Shakuntala or something? in fact, adds to the simple fact that she not only is bluntly oblivious to the fact that, her looks are a blatant antonymous to beauty, but she thinks completely the other way round.

  6. Agreed, she was complemented on her looks, but the catch was, she never saw the reactions of the person complimenting, after the complement, in simple words, the poor guy sat down and doubled over in silent bouts of laughter.

  7. Last but definitely not the least was her own sweet expression. That radiant smile which she wore earlier as memento of her self assured beauty was quickly transformed into a vague smile of dumb incomprehension, as people complemented her with a strange smile on their faces, she did sense that there was a joke no one was sharing with her....well that is not entirely true as she WAS the joke!

All these makes me think, are these people actually this dumb or it is just a desperate plea seeking attention?! However, while others were getting bored over discussing this ridiculous fashion disaster I sit on my console with an intense look on my face, writing this....

Lord Of The Rings...Yeah Yeah I know!!

This is the first of the many blogs that I would be writing relating to This fine piece of Literature\Cinema.

One of the greatest storytellers of the world who took his strong social believes, molded into a great tale of magic and miracle, spiced it with the gloomy expectations of impending doom to mesmerise the adults, who normally wouldn't listen to fairy tales as they are too embarrassed to accept their inner child, in lowering their guards in the expectation of a sad and sombre tale, infused the entire thing with his childhood feelings and memories, then customised it with his intense knowledge of language(After all he was one of the greatest philologists of the world!) and gave the world an excuse to believe that there might just be a slim chance that this alternate world once existed after all(one more reason to look more frantically for hints of elves' and dwarves' existence!)
To be continued.............................

One of my favourite trilogies...

This is rather strange, although I am not particularly fond of this particular piece of literature, yet when I watch the movies, I seem to love it, must be the awe inspiring thought ,that it is one of the master's finest works which makes me like it so much.

Musings of an employed one

"I have got great job!"

That is what people say when, they join a new job but as time passes the answers become more and more grudging

"Everything is OK but if I had a little more chance to grow..."; "It would be great if the company plans to diversify in the finance sector after all that's where my real expertise lie..."; "but it's still a living, a good one ...I guess"

Give a few more days then the statements get further modified

"Damn it! I have to get my ass into that goddamn office and have to slog through those goddamn files just to earn a pathetic existence!"; "Oh No! Today's Thursday! Two more days to go before I can shut out those dumb faces from that hole of an office!”; “Why me? What did I do to deserve such an awful office?”

However, not everyone is like that every now and then we come across people saying, "Well...it doesn't pay much but it’s a life and I definitely can grow here and...Well, what do you know? I quite love my job!" and this even after the statutory period of initial affair with one's job has long expired.

In fact it seems it is merely perceptional discrepancies as to whether one likes his job or not.
It is sometimes confusing, if one has to do something for the larger portion of one's life why not do something that one actually cherishes?

Then it strikes that there are unforeseen situations which constitutes the hurdles of this race known in the popular culture as life. One may want to do something and might end up doing something completely different for the rest of one's life and can do nothing else but either wonder how would things turn out if he could actually pursue his dream or for the lesser knowledgeable people who have no idea as to what or why they want anything in there life go around just being sour at people.

It pays to muse sometimes whether one has taken the right path in one's life, then it strikes, life has just begun...
